IAM assembly guides
A partial IAM can still produce plausible dimensions and geometry properties for the loaded subset. Keep incomplete status with every result.
What to verify
- source Inventor release when compatibility matters;
- intended top-level IAM;
- dependency completeness;
- one known dimension and units;
- component/body scope;
- converted STEP in the receiving workflow.
Native editing versus exchange
STEP is useful for cross-CAD handoff but does not preserve Inventor sketches, constraints, parameters or feature history as native editable features.
Keep the IPT/IAM source package for traceability and future authoring work.
