Autodesk Inventor File Tools: IPT/IAM Viewer & STEP Converter

Open Autodesk Inventor IPT and IAM files online, troubleshoot missing assembly references, verify dimensions and convert supported geometry to STEP.

This hub collects CADProps workflows for Autodesk Inventor IPT parts and IAM assemblies.

Use it for browser inspection, assembly dependency checks and neutral STEP conversion.

Open IPT and IAM files online

Use the Inventor viewer for supported IPT parts and packaged IAM assemblies.

IAM assemblies can depend on IPT files and nested IAM files, so preserve relative paths inside a ZIP.

Convert Inventor to STEP

Use the Inventor to STEP converter when the next CAD/CAM system needs neutral geometry.

Verify one known dimension, expected components and important interfaces after conversion.

IPT guides

IAM assembly guides

A partial IAM can still produce plausible dimensions and geometry properties for the loaded subset. Keep incomplete status with every result.

What to verify

  1. source Inventor release when compatibility matters;
  2. intended top-level IAM;
  3. dependency completeness;
  4. one known dimension and units;
  5. component/body scope;
  6. converted STEP in the receiving workflow.

Native editing versus exchange

STEP is useful for cross-CAD handoff but does not preserve Inventor sketches, constraints, parameters or feature history as native editable features.

Keep the IPT/IAM source package for traceability and future authoring work.
