# Batch STEP Properties: Export CAD Measurements to CSV

Process a batch of STEP files and export real dimensions, area, volume and density-based mass as CSV.

Use one row per source to keep a mixed batch understandable. Record units, calculation scope and failures alongside the values rather than silently omitting difficult files.

## Keep each file accountable

Every selected STEP file gets its own processing status. A failed file stays in the list with a reason instead of silently disappearing from the report.

## Use consistent units and density

Dimensions, area and valid solid volume are normalized to millimetres. The density you choose is applied consistently when estimating mass; confirm that it is suitable for the parts in your batch.

## Take the properties with you

Export a CSV containing file names, status, dimensions, surface area, volume, density, mass, source units and warnings. This release does not export converted models or ZIP packages.

General steps for uploading, viewing, sectioning, measuring, converting and exporting are explained once in [How it works](https://www.cadprops.com/how-it-works/index.md). This page covers what is specific to this file type.

## When a result needs another check

Viewing can start without an account. Conversion, account storage and share creation require signing in. Temporary files expire after the displayed retention period. Read the privacy statement for server processing and deletion, and the accuracy notes before using numerical results. Do not assume that hiding a part, clipping it or exploding an assembly changes the exported source geometry.

## Capabilities and limits

- Process a batch of STEP files and export real dimensions, area, volume and density-based mass as CSV.
- CSV properties retain each file’s units, warnings and unavailable values; incomplete models must not be treated as complete totals.
- Files are uploaded for server processing; support depends on format, version and geometry.
- Viewing and measuring do not require an account. Sign in to convert, save files across devices or create share links.

## Questions about this task

### Can I export one CSV row for each CAD file in a batch?

Each temporary task receives one row with units, status and warnings. A ZIP is one aggregate task, not one row per member.

### Which material density is used in the batch CAD CSV export?

The current batch density is applied to available volumes. Failed or volume-less models keep empty mass values and an explanatory status.

### Are my CAD files uploaded to a server for batch processing?

Selecting a file starts temporary server processing. For guests, access to the workspace copy is limited to the browser session; it can be deleted early and expires after the displayed period. Signed-in files are saved to the account library when space is available; otherwise they remain temporary.
