# Parasolid X_T Tools: Viewer, Measurement and STEP

Open text Parasolid X_T files, check solids and units, and convert supported models to STEP. Binary X_B is not enabled.

Parasolid exchange is often a text `.x_t` file. Several mechanical CAD systems can write it, including workflows that start in Solid Edge or NX, but the extension is not a guarantee of which application or which schema version you received. CADProps reads **text X_T** and can convert supported X_T geometry to STEP. Binary `.x_b` is not enabled. Renaming X_B to X_T does not change the encoding.

## Open X_T

Use the [Parasolid viewer](https://www.cadprops.com/tools/parasolid-viewer/index.md) on the original file. Check the expected bodies, orientation and one known dimension before area, volume or mass. Volume is for a valid closed solid. Mass is volume times a density you confirm. An assembly or a partial load must be labelled with its scope.

## Convert to STEP

[Parasolid to STEP](https://www.cadprops.com/tools/parasolid-to-step/index.md) is the validated output when the recipient wants a neutral file. It does not restore a feature tree. Reopen the STEP and repeat the dimension check. ## Native files that are not X_T

Solid Edge `.par`, `.psm` and `.asm` files are not opened here. Ask for X_T or STEP, as described in [open a Solid Edge file](https://www.cadprops.com/guides/open-solid-edge-without-solid-edge/index.md). Creo `.prt` is not this Parasolid path and is not the NX PRT path either.
